Carrefour d'économie sociale

An innovative development model that gives social enterprises a leg up Read more

The 33,000 sq. ft. building, designed and built by Société de développement Angus in 2005, is wholly occupied by social enterprises. These include companies offering much-needed services to Technopôle workers such as a daycare, a cafeteria, meeting room rentals, and catering services.

Carrefour de l'économie sociale Angus represents a new trend in real estate whereby social enterprises are increasingly taking ownership of their premises. This model makes it easier to secure funding and provides a solid foundation for long-term growth.

The innovative nature of this development was recognized in 2006 when the project was named “Finalist, Commercial Real Estate” by the Quebec Institute of Urban Development.
