Social Economy Development

When it comes to running a social enterprise, we’re walking the walk. Read more

Société de développement Angus is a social enterprise built on the same social economy principles it actively promotes throughout Quebec. Since our founding in 1995 we have strived to balance social and economic spinoffs in every one of our projects.

Our project partners include solidarity finance organizations such as Caisse d'économie solidaire Desjardins and Fondaction CSN.

SDA’s social consciousness shines through in many ways: creating high quality jobs, developing sites that bring positive change to communities (Technopôle Angus, Carré Saint-Laurent), fostering cultural initiatives (e.g., Théâtre La Licorne, Théâtre Le Diamant, Cinéma Excentris, Le 2-22), and supporting a plethora of community projects (e.g., Maison des jeunes Accès-Cible, Scène Ouverte, Toxique Trottoir).

In the same vein, Société de développement Angus has adopted a responsible procurement policy that benefits the social economy and back-to-work initiatives. Examples include our janitorial contract with Pro-Prêt (Technopôle Angus and Le 2-22), landscaping and snow removal with Corporation D-Trois-Pierres (Technopôle Angus), recycling with RécupérActions Marroniers, IT support with Insertech Angus, and printing with Imprime-Emploi.

Last but not least, SDA belongs to a number of social enterprises including Chantier de l'économie sociale, CIRIEC, and CDEC Rosemont–Petite-Patrie. It is a member of the monitoring committee on Montreal’s social economy partnership and Groupe d'économie solidaire du Québec, and is an active participant in the international Mont-Blanc Meetings for social economy and the Intercontinental Network for the Promotion of the Social Solidarity Economy.
