We’re revitalizing with culture.
To kick off the revitalization of an entire strip of Boulevard Saint-Laurent at the intersection of Sainte-Catherine, SDA has designed a building to house culture in every shape and form.
Opened in February 2012, the 2-22 is home to a rich community cultural organizations of all stripes.
- La Vitrine Culturelle
- CIBL 101.5, French-language community radio
- Art actuel 2-22, home to 3 arts organizations: Artexte, VOX, and RCAAQ
- Formats, an arts book store
The 59,000 sq. ft. building also features a restaurant, Accords Le Bistro, and a rooftop patio bar.
One outstanding feature of this development is SDA’s ability to assemble a financing package that empowers arts organizations to own their own space.
The architect’s behind the 2-22, Aedifica+Gilles Huot, were looking for a vernacular style that evoked contemporary art and performance, in keeping with Montrealers’ desire for a building with panache that respects the spirit of the iconic Montreal intersection where it stands. The stunning architecture is complemented by a distinctive lighting plan created by Moment Factory.
The 2-22 is also one of downtown Montreal’s few green buildings, certified LEED-ND Silver.
enabling 7 cultural organizations to own their office space.
