Finally - housing for students
There is a blatant need for affordable student housing in East Montreal. This led to the idea of partnering with the Unité de travail pour l’implantation de logement étudiant (UTILE), an innovative social-economy business that is dedicated to developing, analyzing and promoting student housing in Quebec. The project is backed by the City of Montreal.
UTILE Angus provides 160 student tenants with access to quality housing at an affordable price in a non-profit building. Tenants of UTILE Angus primarily include university students studying at various campuses across the city.
High-tech and accessible
The building includes 123 units at below private-market value and offers studios and 2-bedroom apartments. A high-performance energy-efficient exterior envelope is also integrated into the housing unit, helping reduce energy consumption by 25%, when compared to similar buildings.
In September 2024, UTILE Angus received LEED Platinum Green Building Program certification, the highest honour bestowed by the Canada Green Building Council. UTILE Angus is the first residential building on the site to achieve LEED Platinum certification.
