Saint-Enfant-Jésus Catholic Church and Presbytery

Ongoing project

East Montreal

Breathing new life into a heritage church

The church, its historical presbytery, and an old stable known as "La Grange" are all nestled within a vast green space that forms a stunning natural and cultural environment along the riverbanks.

The site of the Saint-Enfant-Jésus Catholic Church represents an exceptional heritage complex recognized for its considerable importance. A variety of well-preserved heritage structures contribute to an authentic village core that is rich with history.

Our project seeks to introduce new activities on the site, enriching the local environment and revitalizing the heart of the Village for community residents to enjoy and embrace on a daily basis.

The project involves the implementation of various new functions and activities within the buildings and grounds that surround the church and presbytery. The project has successfully secured $2.8 million in funding from the Government of Quebec to promote the appeal and vibrancy of East Montreal. This financial support will transform the historic heart of Pointe-aux-Trembles into a destination and gathering spot for the community. Our objective is to preserve the existing buildings and revitalize the site of the Saint-Enfant-Jésus Catholic Church.

Following its conversion into a multifunctional hall, the church will be capable of hosting performances across all disciplines, thus complementing other venues within the district.

The presbytery, already well preserved, will retain its heritage character while serving as a country-style restaurant, paying homage to the many inns that have operated in the village throughout its history, complete with a stunning terrace overlooking the river.

The stables will be converted into a seasonal refreshment stand that proudly showcases local Quebec products.

The courtyard, a shaded haven nestled between the church and the presbytery, will transform into an outdoor event space for activities that complement the Place du Village, including a public market, community festivities, and family activities.

The orchard, a spacious grassy area next to the presbytery and facing the river, will evolve into an orchard-type garden, offering a friendly country-style environment for leisure activities, relaxation, and picnics.
