RIVES ET DÉRIVES, a new cultural project in East Montreal

During the Sommet de l’Est on April 7, Minister Christine Fréchette announced some great news ― $700,000 in financing over 3 years for the RIVES ET DÉRIVES project.

Developed in collaboration with Culture Montréal, this large-scale cultural project will showcase East Montreal through a rhythmic course featuring exceptional creative, artistic contributions.

A Cultural Revitalization

Stretching over 60 km along the riverbanks and into the interior of the territory, the RIVES ET DÉRIVES course goes through different neighbourhoods, connecting natural, residential and industrial sites in East Montreal.

Artistic installations, performances and shows will all be part of the living space. The goal will be to educate people on new ways to interact with the environment, encouraging their participation, the use of the land and new local discoveries.

The project will take place throughout the year, adapting to each season to showcase a different local experience. A great way to share the beautiful landscapes and thriving culture in East Montreal, while celebrating what makes it unique.

A Creative Vision for East Montreal

By bringing together art, culture and community involvement, RIVES ET DÉRIVES aims to boost development in East Montreal, showcase its often little-known treasures and make the socio-ecological transition a strong, distinguishing pillar of its future.

This cultural project offers much more than a new landscape; it encourages true collective reflection on our relationship with the land ― a call to action and to creative cohabitation. A promising future awaits in the East End.
