The new Technopôle Angus green neighbourhood: It’s on!
Work on the new Technopôle Angus green neighbourhood is kicking off this spring! The announcement was made by Christian Yaccarini, President and CEO of Société de développement Angus (SDA), at the Major Projects Strategic Forum on March 23, 2018.
An innovative neighborhood right in the heart of Montreal
The neighbourhood features 895,000 sq. ft. of housing, offices, public space and green space across from Parc Jean-Duceppe in the borough of Rosemont–La Petite-Patrie, designed according to the most stringent planning and environmental standards.
With a focus on mixed uses and social diversity, the Technopôle Angus green neighbourhood will attract and retain employers and families in the heart of Montreal. Everything has been designed to create a space for living together in harmony and in connection with the surrounding community.
The Neighbourhood Development and Land-Use Plan, created by Provencher_Roy (multidiscilinary architecture) and NIPPAYSAGE (landscape architecture), is a model of innovative infrastructure design:
- An energy loop for heat exchange between buildings will reduce building energy consumption by 40% and greenhouse gas emissions (GHGs) by 26%;
- Landscaping systems filter, retain, and reuse 95% of rainwater, reducing drinkable water used in building facilities by 40%;
- More than 25% of the development is allocated for public space and green space, including a wide tree-lined pedestrian street, an urban woodland, two public squares with shops and services, and greenbelts to preserve biodiversity.
The centrepiece of the green neighbourhood is Cité Angus, a 100% family-focused condominium development. The first 120 units feature 2, 3 or 4 bedrooms: affordable family housing eligible for City of Montreal Home Ownership Program grants. Presale begins in spring 2018!
