The City of Tomorrow
“Each step helps us pave the way.” Relying on humans and working together as a team is the desire path to be taken when designing future cities. Citizens must be an integral part of the conceptualization and design process of a project. Cities are composite. Christine Beaulieu is completely aware of that, as this diversity is something that she loves seeing in her own neighbourhood. So it’s time to break down the barriers, walls and everyone’s habits because prioritizing individualism, property and independence is not a viable solution for the years to come. We need to change the way we think. By being more inclusive and respectful of our differences, it will allow future projects to endure. But in order to do this, we need to try new ways that may be more challenging and think outside of the box.
With Nicolas Demers-Stoddart from Provencher_Roy, Christine Beaulieu, comedian and resident of the Plateau-Mont-Royal, Leyla Lardja from the Société québécoise des infrastructures, Christian Yaccarini and Pierre Choquette from the Société de développement Angus.
The ways of the future
What should future cities look like? How can we factor in current world problems and the evolution of the city when developing a new area? Citizens can change the way things are done to avoid repeating the same mistakes. Véronique Fournier, CEO of the Centre d’écologie urbaine de Montréal and Stephan Morency, Vice President and Chief Investment Officer at Fondaction, propose new ways of working towards inclusivity and accessibility. Resilience, transparency, collaboration and benevolence are all needed to build our future environments.
